As we all know, the weather in New England can be unpredictable, harsh, and even damaging at times. For this reason, the quality, type, and variety of siding used in applications throughout the region is critical to the durability and value of the structure. At Sterritt Lumber, we are proud to stock siding and trim that possesses a number of traits that would make it an extremely valuable material for your job application! We handle natural cedar, primed pine, Hardi, Kleer, and Centurion materials to address your ever changing building materials requirements.

Cedar’s unmatched natural beauty along with the added benefits of durability, moisture resistance and versatility make it the ideal product for any home. Typically, can be recycled, regenerated, and sustained as opposed to many man-made materials. Naturally resistant to insects and decay, cedar is also an extremely stable, low-maintenance choice for siding, decking, roofing, and many other building uses.

Claymark Centurion and primed pine accept paint and finish very well. In addition, both products are durable and incredibly versatile as they are used in dozens of exterior and interior applications.

Hardi and Kleer are innovative products that machine like wood but require little maintenance while establishing an extremely long life. This makes these products incredibly valuable to contractors and homeowners alike. In addition, these materials have little environmental impacts as they are manufactured. We invite you to look into our wide variety of siding and trim, and we believe you will find that Sterritt Lumber still maintains its mark as the most qualified supplier of siding and trim products!

Cedar Siding

Here at Sterritt Lumber, we love to tell you about all amazing benefits of our cedar products. These benefits have made our cedar (Western Red) the primary option for exterior and trim jobs. Western Red Cedar has twice the stability of most commonly available softwoods. The stability of this amazing wood is a result of its low density and shrinkage factors. It lies flat, stays straight, and holds fastenings tightly.

In addition, Western Red Cedar produces long, lightweight lengths of timber with a fine, straight grain and uniform texture that make it easy to machine with ordinary tools. These features also contribute to its ability to be planed to a smooth surface or machined to any pattern. The lack of pitch and resin allows Western Red Cedar to hold glue bonds from a wide range of adhesives and provide a firm base for many types of paints and stains.

Western Red Cedar is one of the world’s most durable woods. Natural resistance to moisture, decay and insect damage has long made Western Red Cedar the premier choice for either interior or exterior home use. Fibers in the heartwood contain natural preservatives that are toxic to decay-causing fungi.

Western Red Cedar is one of the few wood species that are naturally at home in the outdoors. When properly coated, this material will last for many years, even in brutal climates. Its natural resistance to moisture, decay and insect damage make it the ideal choice for a surface that is exposed to sun, rain, heat and cold all year round. Because of this, genuine cedar is a perfect solution to an exterior siding or trim application

James Hardie Siding

In the modern era, we have control over very little. The least of what we control certainly is the weather. However, we can control how we respond to the weather. Thankfully, builders and homeowners all across the world have turned to James Hardie to help protect their assets and families from the harsh effects of the elements.

It is best to choose siding that resists severe climates and damage from the effects of harsh weather, like James Hardie fiber-cement siding. James Hardie Siding resists rotting, warping and delamination. In addition, James Hardie Siding is five times thicker than vinyl siding, is resistant to hail damage, and can be installed to withstand winds up to 150 MPH. That means you can rest assured—storm after storm, season after season—knowing that the weather outside has minimal impact on your siding.

HardiePlank Installation and Coverage Guide

All James Hardie® siding and trim products are available primed and ready for field painting.  However, when you invest in ColorPlus® Technology, you won’t only get stunning color—you will get color that lasts longer than most paint jobs.  This is one of the many reasons we are proud to stock and source this wonderful line of products at Sterritt Lumber.

Choosing from thousands of paint swatches is challenging for certain.  So the options have been narrowed for you.  Our color experts have created a stunning selection of colors that we know look great on exterior siding—so you can stop second-guessing yourself.

Hardie siding and trim exhibit three unique and extremely valuable qualities:

1.)  Products display a durable finish.  Multiple coats are applied  (50 percent more than your average house painter uses) of Hardie’s proprietary finish to every surface and edge of their siding and trim, leaving no spot uncovered.

2.)  A baked on bond develops in the manufacturing process.  Between coats, the finish is cured in a controlled environment for an even stronger bond that resists chipping, peeling and cracking.

3.)  Vinyl siding and paint both fade in the sun. ColorPlus® Technology resists fading and looks good for longer.  Ultraviolet ray resistance is a byproduct of this innovative material. For more on the Jame Hardie ColorPlus Process,

Now that you know more about the elite qualities of Hardie siding and trim, we would like to provide you with an                                                                                                             that gives estimations on the installation of HardiePlank.  It is based on 12′ planks and does not include waste calculation.  The valuable chart contained in the installation requirements is meant as a guide.  Actual usage is subject to variable like building design.
